Okay, this video is my attempt at a sincere apology to those who set first toms on snare stands. I stand by my contention that baskets, when tighten, can choke toms. Leach the life out of them. Maybe I was not placing the tom at the edge of the bottom rim, right at the flange. Here you can tighten the arms with minimal affect on tom sustain.
As for riding with brushes, I advised against it unless you want to come off wimpy. This was tongue-in-cheek, head embedded you know where, but good fun and certainly provocative. Email to TBruceWittet@gmail.com was substantial.
